I have owned a 3 series for six years and although the car is very expensive to maintain, my bigest problem has been the dealerships (tried two different BMW dealers) which always require multiple trips to get the job done. Thought I would try a third BMW dealer and of course, it too followed suit in paying premium pricing for non-premium workmanship. The final insult was the bolt key used for my tire rims was not placed back in the car after they were working on the wheels (the second time around) which means that if a flat occured while driving the car, there would be absolutely no means to change the tire. Three days later, I received the tire rim key via UPS from the dealer not knowing it was not in the car! The crazy part was that something so important was over looked by the dealer (found which is fortunate), but why ship UPS Ground and not Overnight Express. This left us driving the car for three full days and if a flat occurred we would have been left high and dry (the key was in the mail). Even a call would have alerted us about the situation and use of the car could have been limited. Thankfully it did not happen but my 6 year list of frustration with BMW dealers is far too lenghty for this review.
