| About: | Yet another first for New Haven: not only did the city introduce pizza to America, it is also home of the hamburger, introduced to the world by this diner in 1900. If you drive or walk by too quickly, you might miss this small, unpretentious, cottage-like building tucked away along the bustling street. But, on the inside, New Haveners enjoy "a bomb" of a burger, so good that ketchup and mustard are no-no's. The burgers are grilled vertically for the best taste possible, and if you ask nicely, you might get a slice of cheese. Maybe. This is a classic New Haven landmark not to be missed! |

User Rating: 3 out of 5 starsI heard raves about this place and saw it on a t.v. special, so my wife and I decided to go. Now I can say I have been there and tasted the burger. The place is overrated. Too small. You cannot eat in there. Parking sucks. Burger was too small and overpriced. It has nostalgia, been around a long time. Not worth your time. Ted's in Meridan is better.

Birth place of the burger! Awesome burger, get with onion, tomato and cheese. You really don't need the ketchup. Love the toast, not a bun.

My first time there was today and my last time there was today as well.
The burger was ok. Not great, just ok. Went around 2:30 this afternoon and waited close to a half an hour for one cheese burger. Plus the 5 bucks is a little steep. I had to try it for the novelty of it all. Now I know.
