| About: | It's not easy to make it to number one in a city (let alone the world) where the pizzeria competition is brutal. But Modern Apizza (also "a-beetz" in Neopolitan slang) beat out Pepe's and Sally's in 2002 and has recieved acclaim for having the freshest ingredients and friendliest service among its competitors. Try "The Bomb" or create your own masterpiece--you name it, it's on there. |

I used to go there 1-2 times a month & the place always had a line a the door. The last night we went there was no line.We waited a few minutes to be seated & almost 15 minutes till we recieved a menu.
My wife & I usually order a all meat pie & a eggplant pie & bring half of each home for the rest of the family.
When the pies came out, the 1st thing I noticed, they were not even cut even & the eggplant was burnt. When the waitress asked how everything was, I complained about how the pizza was cut & being burnt.
She took it back & I thought I was going to get another pizza & she brought it back recut. That was the last time there. My friend who introduced me to the place has gone recently & was extremely disappointed.
After hearing from many people that Modern Pizza serves the best pizzas anywhere, my wife and I decided to try it out. What a terrible disappointment! The pie was soggy and watery in the center, and the sauce had no taste at all. The only saving grace on the pie was that the sausage was tasty. This place is not worth the trip to New Haven from anywhere!
probably overall , the best apizza in the world . and if not pretty darn close !
actually since i have not had all the pizza in the world as of yet , i may be stretching the truth a tad .
lets say , you would be very hard pressed to find better thin crust italian style apizza far and wide !
