I used Dr. Pieper for many years and was always happy with the care and attention he gave to my exotic pets. I used to bring my prairie dogs there, and spent thousands of dollars there trying to get my prairie dogs healthy. So needless to say, I was very disappointed when I called today for an appointment to neuter my prairie dog and was told (after being on hold for several minutes) that he no longer sees them due to legal issues because you need a special license. I happen to be very knowledgeable on this issue and know for a fact that this is not true. I have done extensive research with the State of CT and you do not need a special license to own or treat a prairie dog. My prairie dog has been to 2 vets already for health visits and when I called Dr. Pieper s office originally to schedule the 1st health visit, I was never told he didn t see prairie dogs anymore. The only reason I didn t take my prairie dog there to begin with is because I had 3 days after purchase to get him vet checked and Dr. Pieper was booked several weeks in advance. Anyway, I wanted Dr. Pieper to do the surgery because of his extensive knowledge of prairie dogs. I wish he had just been honest and said he does not WANT to see prairie dogs anymore instead of making up a lie. While he IS a great veterinarian, I have lost all respect for him because of this blatant lie. And this is why I am only giving him 3 stars.
Dr. Pieper is the best! He has treated a variety of our family s pets: dogs, cats, ferrets, African Grey s, snakes and whatall. I don t care about the wait, he s worth waiting for. His staff...the best. C
We love Dr. Peiper and his staff. Wonderful man , very kind and compassionate. Yes there sometimes is a wait but careful and the right care is worth the wait. This a very high pressured job when time on your beloved friend is never rushed. His approach is for treatment is direct and firm , but has great patience and only deals with issues that are needed and best for your pet. Gave us hope and great care for one our rescued rabbits when all others had given up on her. Thank you and God Bless all at Barnum Animal Hospital Sincerely Kim and Gary
