Red, the chef/owner is a hoot!
He often comes out to the bar area to hobnob with you.

My wife and I go to at least one restaurant per week. Sometimes for lunch, and sometimes for dinner. We go to many different eateries, of all kinds.
We tried out the Black Rock Tavern for lunch. By the end of the meal we had decided to definitley add it to our list of favorites.
Very good food, good bar, nice atmosphere, good service, it had everything you would want for a nice restaurant experience.
Then we got the bill.. Yikes!! I don't ever remember paying that much for lunch, anywhere. Including some 'upscale' type places.
Oh well, didn't quite make the list. Folks, see if you can do something with those prices, it might increase traffic. -

Husband liked his steak, I do not eat beef so I had a fish special which was very dry, tiny and tasteless.
Also I wasn't impressed with the calamari appetizer since it was also dry. And it botherd me that the hostess or owner was stuffing her mouth with a plate of food while taking reservations at the front area, I thought that it was unprofessional and unappetizing witnessing this while trying to eat my lousy fish. Also I may add that prices are high for what you get and the place is dungenous and not very clean.

You hit the nail on the head with this review! The quality of the food is subpar for the prices. I also had the unfortunate experience on ordering fish and it was bad! Dry, tasteless and tiny is a good descrption.
