It was ok...: Went there with some friends for dinner and had heard some good things about the place as I'd never been there before. The fried calamari and blooming onion appetizers were very good.
My dinner on the other hand was very disappointing. I ordered the Pan-Caramelized Sea Scallops, served with a hot & spicy bell pepper reduction In a potato nest with seasonal vegetables. Where do I start? The 5 scallops on my plate were hardly caramelized and rather rubbery. The whole dish was rather bland, nothing was "hot & spicy" as promised. Other than the peppers there were hardly any other "seasonal vegetables" on my plate. The potato nest was ok, but it sat right on top of a scoop of mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were actually decent but totally obstructed by the fried potato nest! I was not impressed. A friend had the same dish and felt exactly the same as I did. We compared notes the next day.
Service was good, ambience was dark and rather cozy. If I were to go there again, I'd stay away from the seafood.
Historical and Delicious: It's an old style tavern with all the New England charm. Great food, nice bar and the muscles are awesome.
