'oh my god' is way off the mark with DP's. It's old, yes...that's why it's such a fantastic atmosphere! It's a casual bar, for sure- also part of its charm. Many of the prices are incredible values compared to everywhere else- that's partially why you feel like you are stepping back in time when you go there. For instance Shrimp cocktail is 3.95. That's for 5 large, cleaned, fresh, firm chilled shrimp served with cocktail sauce. You won't find that at your neighborhood dullsville chain. Servings at DP's are plentiful if not overflowing- they're just right. Entrees are also well priced and the quality is on a par with MUCH more pricey establishments. The shrimp stuffed with real crabmeat stuffing rival some I have had at the most upscale restaurants for triple the price. Beer is cheap, mixed drinks are still priced competitively but of course can add up. (Their specialty drinks are actually quite good...) Service is fine for a neighborhood joint. They're nice to you if you're nice to them. And they're very, VERY busy. Ya know...I shouldn't even post this since DPs is usually crowded and there's usually a wait. All the better to keep the lame 'oh my god' types away. But I just couldn't read that and not comment. I am neither a friend nor family member and unfortunately only just discovered DPs a few months ago even though I usd to work in the area. I have been back several times, and brought friends several times. We weren't treated any differently after we'd been back several times. We got a smile the first time, and a smile every time since. (Bring my food when it's ready and ask me if I want a drink every now and again and frankly I'm happy. 20 bucks for dinner and a beer isn't really white glove service territory, hate to break it to ya...) We have no problem paying cash if it helps keep the excellent food so affordable. I could go on and on but you get the point. I'm glad I won't be seeing you at DP's. Have fun at Houlihan's! :)

They have the best fresh seafood anywhere! Try the crab claw & shrimp cocktail and the steamed clams or on the half-shell; you've never had better. Its a great place you have to try!!!

Don't judge a book by it's cover: they have the best fresh seafood anywhere! Try the crab claw cocktail and the steamed scallops on the half-shell; you've never had better! Be sure to ask for a Cooper's Red Rum!
