Chevys Fresh Mex

I had dinner at Chevys with my family a few days ago. It was almost acceptable. The service was fine, meaning our waitress was attentive and timely.

The food however was not very good. My kids both had meals off the kids menu. The fries were cold, and the chicken bites were overcooked. I'm not sure how the kitchen manager let that go. My son had a taco that was not how he ordered it, but it was corrected. The adult meals were fairly large and filling, but the food just was not very good.

Nothing was at all spicy, nothing had that Mexican kick that you would expect from a place that says everything is fresh. The only exception was the Chili Relleno which did not have the seeds removed, so it was very spicy.

The filling for the Pork Tamale was dry, and the coating was tasteless. My wifes enchiladas were soggy and not very flavorful. The rice was seasoned well, but it too was dry and seemed old. The refried beans were, in my opinion not refried. They were just beans in a sauce.

All in all not a good restaurant experience.

I am a waiter and a bartender at this place. I know it has gone down hill for awhile but i assure it has gotten better. Try the flautas or fajita nachos as appetizer. the burritos and enchiladas are great for dinner and the Mixed Grill fajita is the best meal on rt 10 for $15. here, i will make you a deal. if you mention this review to me i will make sure your meal is great. and hey, if you take care of me then i will take care of you. Enjoy!!!

Chevy's used to be a fun place to go but now the service is awful and the food comes out either cold or dry (like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for too long).
We've been to Chevy's about a half dozen times over the past year and have been disappointed each time. I recommend finding someplace else for your mexican food until chevy's gets their act together.

we're giving it two stars - one for the chips and salsa and one for the tortilla soup.
