Listen folks, I am not going to say that Spirito's is the BEST Italian food I ever had...since I come from an Italian family I have had a lot of Italian food, nor will I say that it is the best Italian restaurant I've ever been in since I grew up in Chambersburg in Trenton...but let me say this...if you are looking for that AUTHENTIC Italian taste you will be hard pressed to find another restaurant that delivers like Spirito's. If you ever wanted to know what it was like to be an Italian American in the 20's 30's and 40's in America, you will be transported back to the early 1900’s at Spirito's. The look, the smells, the sounds, the tastes all scream AUTHENTIC ITALIAN!!! I mean the place envelopes you in an atmosphere that is just plain Godfather...I mean Francis Ford Coppola could have filmed the, "Michael shoots Sollozo“ scene right there at Spirito’s..in fact when the police Captain asks Sollozo, “what’s good on the menu?” Sollozo replies, "Try the veal, it's the best in the city." what’s amazing is he really would have been telling the truth.
Spirito’s is just plain “Old World” goodness…the food is priced fair and the portions are huge…try the antipasto it is the best ever and the plate is GIANORMOUS! Now.. if you really want to treat yourself and you like pasta try the ravioli it is the best I ever had, anywhere, any time and the gravy, well let’s just say that it rivals Grandmom’s (but not quite). The pizza “tomato pie” is also great!
Some bad points…parking…well let’s just say that the price you pay for the authentic food is a restaurant located on a street that hasn’t change since the turn of the century…be aggressive to get a parking spot…it’s worth it. Also, the restaurant is small so you may have to wait for a table. Also, the place is a little noisy because of the size so I wouldn’t take a date for a “romantic” night out! Nah, this place is for the true Italian food lovers…not for those who are seeking to fall in love…unless you are talking about the restaurant…I fell in love with it the first time I dined there, and I feel confident that you will too!

Can you tell me what is on the menu? I'm hosting a rehearsal dinner and thinking of doing takeout for 25 people. Hoping the pricing is reasonable?

Spirito's is the BEST Italian restaurant EVER!!some times if i get out of work early and want to pick up something to go i will wait the hr. outside until they open. I have gone there and waited in line for hrs to get a table. It's THAT good! My favorite is the veal cutlet w/spaghetti.The sauce is the best i've ever had. yes, it still has everything pretty much the way it was over 70 years ago and it suits it.i have always been amazed how the wait staff can take an entire tables order, not write anything down, and come back with the right food. so here's pretty much the basic rules for going there. 1) bring butter for your bread if you have to have it. 2) pay with cash, they don't take credit cards. 3)hurry up someone's waiting for your table. 4) arrive a little early to scout for parking. 5) enjoy the best meal you will ever have!

I have been going to Spirito's since I was a kid living up in North Jersey. I now live in Toms River and I still take a trip up there. The food is out of this world. I pretty much get the rav's everytime I go, but everything else is great.
