This store is a little more expensive than Shop Rite, but you have to watch the specials and and sales. The quality if fine and the people are helpful. A food store must cater to the community and cannot survive on tourism as implied by the other writers of comments.
I 100% agree w/ Pumpkin Head. This place is a joke.. High priced for the wealthy tourists. Just the other day I purchased a bag of onions, last night I had to cut through 3 before I found one that wasn't rotted tot he core. Every single item in this store is overpriced and the quality is very very minimal. I go to Shop Rite in Franklin or Warwick. We should ALL stop going to this market, but convenience is def the best quality of this place.
Maybe the worse food store in America. The produce is often rotten and liquifying on the shelf. I'm serious!, but thats if you can find the veggie your looking for in the first place. They are constantly soldout of common items and their prices are WAY out of line. I was shocked to see that the one medium butternut squash I had chosen was going to cost me ovet $7!
The meat is often rancid and out of date. I've bought chicken there before that smelt like a baby's diaper when I opened it at home. Here too the prices are stupid crazy. $12 for a package of chicken wings? Lamb shanks for $6/lb? The beef is wretched and I swear you can still see the marks where the jockey was hitting it!
The bakery can be OK, but I've bought bread there that when I realized at after purchase was hard as a rock. My fault? Maybe, I should have checked closer, but they shouldn't have been selling it either.
Grocery items are consistantly overpriced too compared to other markets in Warwick or Franklin.
I have never seen a worse group of employees at any retail establishement anywhere. They all have the chear of a Russian Gulag. No one ever smiles and no one is helpful or friendly.
The only thing this store has going for it is its convienance factor for those of us who live in Vernon, aside of that avoid this place like the plague. A&P management must be aware of these deficiancies and yet they do nothing.
I've been to other A&P Fresh's and they are of the highest quality, almost akin to a Whole Foods. What ever is going on at this particular location however is deplorable and must be blamed primarily on the stores management or lack there of.
