To say that I'm stunned by the reviews I've just read here is an understatement. My 11 year-old Golden Retriever has been going to North Jersey Animal Hospital since he was a puppy. In fact, Max's affiliation with NJAH precedes that of Dr. Frantz and Dr. Reidel. Six months ago, Max became critically ill with a very unusual intestinal disorder that resulted in the removal of 12 inches of his intestines. Because of the severity of the problem, he developed peritonitis, which for those of you who are unfamiliar, is life threatening. Dr. Frantz was very honest with me in telling me that Max required the care of a specialty clinic, which, quite frankly, I couldn't afford. I decided to keep Max in Dr. Frantz's and Dr. Reidel's care at NJAH. It was the best decision I could have made. The doctors were outstanding in providing him with the best care possible in their facility, and they were diligent about reaching out and obtaining expert consult from others in the veterinary field.
Their compassion toward's me and my dog went beyond what I could have ever expected. Every morning and every evening, they allowed me to have an examining room to myself to visit with my dog. They even allowed my family members to visit with him. Let's face it, this is an animal hospital, not a person's hospital. They did not have to extend themselves in that manner. In addition to their emotional support, they also gave me honest assessments of Max's condition and kept me completely mindful of the cost I was incurring. This allowed my decision-making to be educated rather than simply emotional.
The staff showed constant love to my dog, and I know part of what got Max well is knowing that he had so many people pulling for him. I feel nothing but continued gratitude to Dr. Frantz, Dr. Reidel, and the entire staff of NJAH for helping Max beat odds that gave him only a 30% chance of survival.
my kitten, at 6 months, was released to me with a huge hematoma, very swollen, to his left lower mouth/face. they said this was incurred trying to get him from the cage to the carrier. i offered 3 time to go back and help, since he IS MY ANIMAL...but the staff would not allow it. all dr, frantz had to say was that my cat "was a bad patient". he did not respond to the letter i wrote to him, sickened and disgusted by my kitten's injury. i found him very uncompassionate. a vet with charm-school evasiveness...he comes off very charming.
decent: I found these guys on a recommendation. I have been there a few times. Thankfully, the staff was mostly very pleasant and helpful. Dr. Frantz seems to know what he's doing. They diagnosed something in my dog that 4 other vets couldn't and it helped relieve her of some discomfort. My puppy passed away there :( and they were helpful and spent lots of time with me. The doctors are not very warm in a very dire time (Frantz and Riedel). I was distraught and if it wasn't for Christine (at the front desk), I would have been in big trouble. So, they're very knowledgable but don't expect much sympathy from the doctors.
