My Church-My Family: Recently, I visited Mississippi and had the pleasure of visiting North Gautier Baptist Church. I wrote a review after the visit. It had never occurred to me to write a review of my own church.
About 3 years ago, we moved to Hazlet, NJ from Staten Island. My husband and I were looking for a bible based church. I don't really believe in "church hopping" but we were determined to find the right church. We went to a few churches in the area but they were not as bible based. We also felt like outsiders at times. One day, we received a newsletter from Calvary Baptist Church. It had an article by Charles Stanley. That immediately caught our attention. We attended one Sunday and since then we've never looked back. We were welcomed like we were family members whom they had not seen for ages! What a wonderful family I have found in Calvary Baptist Church! My husband and I had been married in a civil service ceremony. We were finally married in the eyes of God at this church with the members in attendance. There is an emphasis on bible study- on Sunday mornings and during the week. The is also a ministry for homebound seniors on Tuesdays from 10am-3pm which includes exercise, bible study,lunch, and projects which assist the needy. At this time, transportation is not provided but sometimes people chip in to help if someone has that need. They also have a moms time out for stay at home mothers. The focus is always on Jesus and others. I cannot think of another place I'd rather be.
