   When my daughter entered Ivy Hill at the tender age of 18 months, the social atmosphere for her was so wonderful and she was so happy that her 3 days a week there quickly became four and then five full days! When she started, Barbara, the owner, promised me that my daughter would be well prepared for kindergarten when the time came. This sentiment was echoed by my sister-in-law, an elementary school teacher in Monmouth Beach who told me that ALL of the children she has from Ivy Hill are polite, socially advanced and well educated. Well, time flies! I am beyond proud to report that my daughter starts kindergarten this fall and that at four years old she can read amazingly well, spell, write and do arithmetic! The whole time she was learning these things she never knew it because at Ivy Hill they made learning FUN! My son, now three, also started Ivy Hill as a toddler and he and loves it!! They have both formed friendships at Ivy Hill that will last for years to come. I know my children are in excellent hands at Ivy Hill. Yes, of course there are rules at the school. Don't you want there to be rules where your children spend their day? Barbara and the teachers at Ivy Hill love their students and it shows.

   I live in Rumson and Ivy Hill is just around the corner. How blessed were we as parents! We looked at eight other options for preschool,and Ivy Hill was CLEAN,well staffed,experienced,and most of all run by Barbara,who exudes years of confidence,which some may see as arrogance.WRONG. She called my sons maturing in school shot by shot,and constantly reassured us he would get over his little obstacles of entering the "big world " of preschool. He loves it,and his teacher Miss Susan is his hero. They have loads of activities to keep them happy and learning,and most of all Barbaras years of experience and confidence(which alot of parents should follow)put us at ease every day.Ivy Hill teaches structure,ALOT of manners,and how to socialize,which most young ones I meet these days just don't have. This school is TOPS, and I highly reccommend it!

   Academics are very good. The owner, Barbara, is a head strong, inflexible and cold as a fish. If your child is compliant and never chats at nap time, all is good in her world. If a child is misbehaved her methods are inappropriate and ineffective. Her teachers are powerless to control as she has all control. She actually gets into power struggles with 5 year olds! She wants parents to use "Draconion" methods on children that have acted up. I do not agree with her philosophy.

   As mature parents we searched long and hard for a preschool where we could feel that our toddler was safe, nurtured and taught to get along with other children as well as develop a healthy respect for his teachers. Our prayers were answered with IVY Hill. The owner and staff are professional and dedicated to provided a safe , interactive environment for all the preschool age groups. It eased my guilt for returning to work trememendously to leave my son with these professionals.
