So a great piece of americanca as one of the clasic drive ups. Dogs are good better with extras. Fries are not so good. Birch Beer and Buttermilk are great in frosted mugs. Not a great selection for add ons for your dog. ( NO KRAUT? ) It is a great place to stop if you have kids or once or twice a year when you are in the area. I would rate this a fun place to go on a summers day. I have had better dogs and much better fries but this place sorta makes you come back. It just reminds you of a dog stand in 1950.
An institution in NW NJ, which doesn't necessarily mean it serves up the best or most diversified menu among its doggy peers. But it has stayed true for at least as long I have been going there (35 years) to the basic menu: root beer and buttermilk (served in glass mugs if one wishes), great fries, and of course, the dogs. They are deep fried and slapped into an unextraordinary bun. "The works" consists of strong raw chopped onions (once they were from the nearby "Mucklands" of Great Meadows), yellow mustard, and robust dill pickle slice. Not much to write home about, but pretty good fare. And of course you can't eat just one.
