We went with 2 other couples. The other couples have been here before but we never even heard of the place. So here is our opinion of the food and the restaurant.

You walk in Saturday night anytime after 6:30 expect to wait for at least an hour for a table for 6. Tables for two were much easier. The place is unbelievably loud. If you plan to talk to each other forget it. Screaming over other people is more like it.

The bartender was on her own handling at least 80 people taking their drink and food orders. If you are looking to order drinks expect to wait.They are also rude when you order a pitcher of beer stating that pitchers are only for tables and not at the bar. Price for a pitcher of coors light is $9.50.

Once seated waitress took order realitively quick and had food at our table quickly. Lobster is very good. However you pay for even a cup of water. That to me its just outrageous. Everything here is about cash and not so much service. Owner flies in lobsters from Main on own plane every day. I heard he is a jerk, but did not get to meet him. With all the cash going through this place it makes you wonder why not be nicer to the people who can go elsewhere and pay with a credit card and even get a free cup of water.

Overall the food is ok. The service from the waitress is ok though she has too many tables as do the other waitresses. Bartender stinks and desperately needs help. I guess owner is too cheap to hire extra help(lots of people looking for work these days) to make things go smoother.
Hostess definetely has to go since if you keep checking where you stand on when your table will be ready she basically told us to get lost till she calls us. Ladies room stalls are all clogged and I hear this is the norm. With all this cash you think the owner can fix this issue?

Will I be back, probably but not on weekends or at prime dinner hour. Its not worth the hassle for the treatement you get for the cheap food.

Food arrived very quickly, waittresses/hostesses were friendly, even though busy. Atmosphere was laid back even though the place is packed on a friday night. We got the whole lobster with a baked potato meal for $15. Although with drinks and tip it easily comes up to $25 a person. Good food, good time, somewhat limited menu.

Went here last night with my dad and fiance. My dad has been there several times and wanted to show us what he had been talking about. After reading some of the reviews and now having been there I thought the place was awesome. Its no frills! I'm not sure what some folks are expecting when they go here but $21.00 for a whole lobster and 2 dozen clams? Where else are you going to find that? We sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice and attentive. If I'm craving lobster or clams, I'm heading back to Pub 199, its simple seafood done right!
