They are deceitful...: I've been burned twice by Mall Chevrolet in Cherry Hill, NJ. In 2004, I purchased a new Malibu thinking I was getting a payment of $286/Month, only to find 3 days later it had jumped up to $475/Month. They explained to me then, that the buyer's agreemnet I had signed on a Saturday night hadn't had finace terms listed, and the payment I had been told I was getting at that time was an estimate based on assumptions, and they hadn't been able to obtain a lender at said terms.
In June 2007, I reluctantly returned to Mall, based on a sales solicitaion letter I had received in the mail. I told the saleswoman, "Kim", while my 8 month old sat on my lap, of my past unpleasant past experience at that same dealer. She insisted that they don't use that sales tactic, and SHE CERTAINTLY IS UP FRONT AND WON'T do the same thing to me. 4 hours later, without applying the "GM Family First" discount I am eligible to receive, I agree to a payment of $490/Month for 72 months, again on a Saturday sale date. I also have a "scratch-n-win" guaranteed to win a minimum prize of a free oil change at Mall's service center, that is supposed to be scratched off during their sale event, that "Kim" tells me to bring back Monday when I come back to sign my financing papers.
Monday comes, "Kim" calls my house phone while I'm at work, instead of the mobile number I supplied her, and asks me to call her if I won't be able to come in at 7 PM. As soon as I get off work, my husband and I drag our son up to Mall, and wait on "Kim", who doesn't bother to come in, even after being called by another Sale's Rep. and saying she'll be there in 20 minutes. The new sale's rep "Mark", informs me that my financing papers aren't read, so I tell him what I told "Kim" about not wanting the car if the payments are higher than what I was told on Saturday. To which he responds, "Oh, no, The payment can only get lower".
Fast forward to Thursday, I again return, family in tow, to Mall to sign my finance contracts, and am bowled over by the terms presented to me... $475 had ballooned up to $592. I am completely outraged, and after nearly an hour with the financing officer, and recanting the same tale for him as I had previously told "Mark" & "Kim", I walk away without that unscratched promotional instant game card, a $400 lower down payment, a $1000 transaction discount, a $529/Month/72 MOnth contract, and a sick feeling in my stomach.
Today, less than 2 weeks later, I received a postcard from Mall, notifying me that my plates and registration are available to pick up.... with a handwritten notation that reads "There is a shortage of $106.00 for MV [Motor Vehicles fees]".
So, here I am agitated, disappointed and feeling like I was run over by the car I jsut financed. I implore you not to shop and Mall Chevy, or any other Mall dealerships in NJ, As I have come to find from telling people my story, that they are known to use this deceptive sales strategy to boost their weekend sales figures during prolotions.
No Problems. Easy Deal!: I had a Great experience with Mall Chevy. This is the second truck I purchased from them in the past 3 years. I walked in, told them what I wanted. They found it up in Pa. They went and got it. Gave me a great trade in value for my old truck, and an unbeatable price on my new 2500HD. No one could beat the price. Believe me, I searched!
I see other reviews, Lets face it. They are all (Used car salesmen). They are supposed to be pushy and irritating. Tell them what you want. If they cant give it to you, MOVE ALONG! You can not throw a rock without hitting a car dealership.
