I live around the corner from the Brookside Diner so it's very convenient for my family and I to come in there and eat. However, regardless of the convenience location, the food is tasteless, stale, and covered in filthy sauces to cover up the spoiled food. Once my daughter ordered a chicken fingure platter and not only was the chicken raw in the middle with a blueish tint but also a few nats and maggots where present under her french fries. The fish is a NO! We brought our relatives for a nice salmon dinner and received black moldy salmon, the smell was enough to send it back. The staff is another problem, our waitress's always have track marks going all the way up and down their arms, the hostess is even a prostitute in disguise turning tricks in the parking lot, the police have been reported many times for other incidents as well. The prices are out of this world EXPENSIVE. $7 for a glass of OJ? No soda refills? The toilets never work, and there are fesis all over the walls and floor. I never ordered soup and saw so many dead flies in the bowl. We have stopped going into the Brookside. We understand that it's not easy to run a good diner and find good help these days but maggots on a dinner plate is not acceptable, the owner did not even take care of the bill for us instead gave us 10% off. This place needs to get shut down, sure the renovations are attractive but what goes on behind the scenes is a nightmare. I suggest if you would like to stay healthy and not get food poisoning do NOT go here.
Nice place for a wholesome meal where you'll feel like your at home.
Appetizing entrees and freshly baked desserts are the main reasons for bringing my family here every once in a while when the wife doesn't feel like cooking. Quite possibly one of the most accommodating staffs I've ever seen in an eating establishment and one of the few family owned and OPERATED diners still around. The part-owner and manager John is one of the most courteous and warming guys I know and will assure that every single customer of his is satisfied.
The place is also very friendly to the Jewish Community and even had a special menu during passover. As a member of the JCC, many of the fellow members there recommended the place and I've been going ever since.
The only complaint I hold against the place is the fact that it never has any variety in the specials. While the daily specials have a big selection, the blackboard specials seem to rotate and it becomes disappointing after a while.
