This place was a favorite of my family's for years in the 1970's and was a tradition on Good Friday's when we would all go down to flounder fish. For my Dad and his friends, this was our usual stop on the way home to fuel up with pitchers of beer, burgers and good times.
It is stragegically located Half Way between Philly and Long Beach Island, which could be good or bad depending if you are coming or going.
As I recall, it was a typical bar atmosphere, with beer on tap, burger baskets and fries, and our favorite as kids, a selection of premium bar games --shuffle alley, pinball machines, foosball, pool and juke box.
My Dad and his buds usually had gotten a head start while we were fishing, but it was fun watching them challenge each other to eating hot peppers.
Haven't been there in 20 years, but if it is half as good as I remember it would be well worth a visit.
Was not impressed: Very disappointed with the food and the service wasn't all that great. Could be a littlt cleaner also.

We are local business owners and for years have patronized Mayos on occassion. We have noticed how visits over the past several months how the appearance of the presence as well as the employees has rapidly deteriorated. On our most recent visit this date, when we walked in we found a shabily dressed barmaid with her head in her arms resting at the bar. We ordered a pitcher of beer with frosted glasses and was surprised when we were told the kitchen was closed on a Sunday afternoon. Took the pitcher to the outside area, which was disgustingly trashed. Pouring our beverage in the glass and upon taking the first sip there was an overwhelming smell of bleach. Took the drink back inside and requested new glasses only to find that they all were emitting the bleach smell. Apparently improperly rinsed. The barmaid was quite put out that she had to assist. We asked for dry mugs with ice, finished the remaining 1/2 pitcher. The barmaid never once checked to see if we wanted anything else. We left, stopping at the bar to pay and was told that we had to pay $11.00 for the full pitcher even though 2 full glasses were discarded. The barmaid was very snippy saying that we had to pay the entire amount because we drank the remaining glass each. Doubt if we will be going back there again.
