I absolutely ADORE this restaurant!!! Anytime a birthday or anniversary come up, my boyfriend and I make it a habit to come here. We're a fairly young couple who don't pull up in our super-expensive luxury vehicle or sport the most expensive designer clothing yet, from the moment we walk in until the moment we leave, we are treated like royalty. We just ate here last night for my birthday and opted for the complimentary valet parking. There was no discrimination just because we pulled up in a Jeep Grand Cherokee versus a brand new Lexus SUV. Everyone from the front desk girls, to our waitress, to the valet parkers were 110% respectful and wonderful. I felt like everyone knew it was my birthday and made sure they wished me a good one. They truly made me feel like a princess. Now, besides the amazing service, let's talk about the food. Whew! First of all, they give you the option of bottled sparkling water or flat water. Second of all, they have an extensive wine and alcoholic beverage list. We didn't get any alcohol drinks last night but I have been there for drinks before and they are wonderful! We each ordered a soda and that seemed to work for us. For appetizers, I got a colossal jumbo shrimp cocktail. They only give you 4 shrimp, but they are true to their titled explanation. These shrimp were the absolute largest shrimp I have ever seen in my whole entire life! They were fresh, delicious, and meaty.. perfect! My boyfriend got the lobster bisque. Holy moly! This stuff was so good! There wasn't too much of any one certain flavor yet they all blended so well together and gave a 'can't have just one spoonful' experience. A definite must order if you are a bisque fan. For our entrees, I ordered the 12 oz. filet mignon with steak butter and my boyfriend ordered one of the daily specials which included a 12 oz. filet mignon over garlic mashed potatoes with two blackened scallops on the side. PS- I have NO clue what they put in their steak butter but it completely enhances all of the already delicious flavors. We both got our filets done 'medium rare' and just like every time, they came out GREAT! I have to tell you, their filets are ALWAYS mouth watering and melt-in-your-mouth perfect! It's the steak that will keep you coming back time and time again. We also ordered 2 sides a la carte.. mashed red skinned potatoes and grilled asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Those are our usual sides that we get and are always good. Oh, and FYI, those 2 blackened scallops that came with my boyfriend's meal were out of this world! They were perfectly flavored and textured. There was no chewiness or crunchiness and EXACTLY the way that you could ever imagine and hope a scallop to be. Cheesecake was for dessert and where it may not be the best I've ever had, it was still really good and I would definitely order it again. Perfect food and service has it's price though. Our meal came out to be fairly expensive but competitively priced based upon other local steakhouses. For our 2 sodas, appetizers, entrees, sides served a la carte (and family style), the cheesecake, tip for our waitress and for the valet parker, roughly $185 was spent. Maybe not a weekly affair but perfect for that special occasion every once in awhile. I rave about this place and will stand by my word and testimonial until I am given a reason not to. The Chophouse is a MUST! I have been here on more than one occasion and every time has been a pleasure! If someone in your life has a special day coming up, plan on this restaurant as part of your agenda. Just don't forget to make reservations!!!!
so very over rated: They give you a good filet, but it better be for almost $40 without as much as a peice of green on the plate. We've had just as good other places and presented much better at a fraction of the price.
excellent: The best steakhouse in South Jersey combines excellent food with a good atmosphere.
