| About: | One visit to Anthony's creative Italian cuisine & you will be hooked. As you walk into one of three beautifully redesigned dinning rooms, in a building that dates back to the 1930's, you will smell the aromas of the freshest ingredients and spices, which are used to create the unique menu. This coupled with the warm earth tones & natural lighting from the oversized windows makes dining here a truly special experience. Outdoor cafe dinning when weather permits adds to the romantic ambience. As you are escorted to your table you can't help but notice the beautifully crafted temperature controlled oak wine cabinet which houses up to 200 bottles of wine. Since the restaurant is a BYOB, the owners wanted to provide customers with a place to store their favorite wines so they are readily available each time they visit. Anthony's also offers the use of any of their dinning rooms for private events. |

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time the other night and were more than pleasantly surprised! We usually go to Collingswood to Sapori when in the mood for Italian food and have yet to find anything that comes close, but Anthony's ranked right up there!! It was great and we'll definitely be back. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was fabulous. Highly recommended!
What else can be said?: Before going, we read the other reviews. Outside of one, the place seemed like a winner. I would imagine the negative review had some ax to grind, because the food is outstanding!
My wife and I went for restaurant week. It should be a month, but I digress. A plate of antipasti and bread were provided. Hot and crusty complemented the basil infused vegetables while we decided what to get.
We started with the buffalo sausage and the spinach salad with warm gorgonzola. The Sausage was well cooked and served on a bed of red and yellow roasted peppers. Tender and delicious. The spinach salad was everything one would expect. The warmth of the bacon dressing caused the cheese to take on a melt in your mouth consistency that left the taste buds begging for more.
Then we moved onto a carpacio on arugula and pumpkin ravioli served with hazlenut cream sauce. The carpacio was tender and flavorful and a nice complement to the nutty arugula. I didn't try the pumpkin ravioli, but my wife raved about it's flavor. It was sweet, probably good for desert, but I'm jumping ahead.
The main course was Tuna steaks for me and Oso Buco. The tuna was firm, fresh and flavorful. Served with wasabi mashed potatoes and putanesca sauce, the flavors blended well and were a delight. The Oso Buco was served with a risotto and some sort of vegetable that we couldn't figure out. The meat fell off the bone and was tender blending well with the starchy goodness of the risotto.
Desert was a cheese plate and a sampler plate featuring cheese cake, rum cake and a merringue cake. There was supposed to be a creme brulee, which was my wife's main reason for getting that one, but they had run out of the sampler size. The server graciously provided a full size version gratis. I can see why they ran out. A delightful crust ontop of sweet creamy goodness. We were fighting over who got the last bite, she won. The cheeses were delightful and served with some dried fruits. There was a baby swiss, a romano, and two others. A fine finish to an amazing evening.
When the bill arrived we were also given a gift certificate to use on our next visit. We can't wait.
