Ichi is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant in the area. I think that says a lot since I try almost every sushi place Iâve seen or heard about in Jersey area. The restaurant balances tradition and innovation perfectly. The combinations of flavors and textures in their specialty rolls are absolutely amazing. The ingredients are always of excellent quality. The service is friendly and fast. The food, whether off the regular menu or specials of the day, is always a delectable treat; Iâve yet to try anything I havenât liked (but usually loved). It seems that whenever I try a new sushi restaurant, I find myself wishing I went to Ichi as Iâve yet to find anything that even compares. My top sushi roll recommendations: Boston, & Spider.
Two words, so fresh & so clean: I love sushi, rolls, sashimi, bento, udon, all the good japanese food. Of all the places I've gone, I keep coming back to this one. The service is quick and their waitresses are so friendly. Their sushi chef is a seasoned veterans. They are definitely generous in their serving size. What I like most is the freshness of the fish in the rolls. The fish isn't soft and squishy, but actually has texture. This is likely due to the amount of care they take in preparing each slice. Personal favorites are the spider roll, albacore tuna, and mackerel. These guys know what they are doing. I don't know what more to say. I've been to many sushi places, but this is THE sushi restaurant.
I was in the mood for Japanese food/sushi, and I was lucky enough to find a great place on my first try here in New Jersey. Having just moved here, I took my chances and searched for something online. I'm so glad that Ichi came up on the list.
I went for lunch, and the place was packed. To me, that's always a good sign. I got the last table. People who came in behind me waited for a few minutes.
The service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant - it is a nice-looking place.
I had a beef teriyaki and a single order of a sushi roll. The dish came with salad and miso soup. The portion was big, much bigger than I had expected for a lunch portion. The food was very tasty and seasoned just right. The beef just melted in my mouth like it was a high quality steak. The sushi roll made me long for more!
I'll definitely go back, and perhaps next time, I'll even try the fried vanilla ice cream they have.
