Very good Southwestern food, and reasonable prices for Cape May. GREAT location and outdoor seating off the beaten path, and the cornbread muffins are outstanding! I have to get their breakfast burrito (forget what they call it) every time I'm in Cape May. Definitely worth checking out!
WOW....I mean seriously: This little southwestern hut on the mall in Cape May truly tickles me pink. The service is just amazing, and they all deserve raises....especially the one blonde hostess, she was more than helpful with our table, accompaniments, and just there to chat about everything and anything. WOW. All I can offer to Gecko's is "Stay Gold" or more appropriately "Stay Spicy!"
If only it were year round!: Gecko's is the sort of restaurant where I have to wonder whether I'm bewitched while dining because every bite tastes better than the previous, and there's always room for dessert. To sit outside on the porch sipping iced tea and eating the Three Sisters Quesadilla is bliss. That it's closing for the winter puts me in a state near mourning.
I've eaten a lot of Southwestern-style dishes in many states (including those actually in the Southwest!), but no dish comes to mind that has the flavor and freshness of those I'm served here. So many wonderful options, with several delicious choices that are vegetarian and vegan, and a dessert menu that just blows the mind. You'll want to lick the plates clean.
I'll be on the doorstep come spring, awaiting their reopening.
