Tisha's is the most overrated restaurant in Cape May. The service is slow and rude and the food is marginal. Seriously, I've gotten crisper salads at McDonalds. With all of the wonderful dining choices in Cape May, this is one you can leave off your list!
CHECK THE WEATHER REPORT
We had heard great things about Tisha's from several of our family members who vacation in Cape May regularly, so we decided to give it a try. We finally found a babysitter for our toddler, and were looking forward to a nice date night. We went early since it was July and we were able to sit right down. The scallop with mushroom risotto appetizer was amazing, as was the lobster bisque. The decor inside is incredibly lame. It is also a BYOB.
However, by the time our entrees arrived, a passing storm had ruined our entire meal. The high winds blew right through the place, despite the porch window flaps finally being lowered. Sand was whipping me in the eyes. When we asked the server if we could possibly be relocated to a different table not so close to the porch (the dining room was still not full), she basically dismissed our request. The staff ignored the discomfort of all the people in the restaurant, especially those with outdoor seating who were getting dripped on by the rain. Instead of being concerned with the paying customers already inside, they were busy wiping off the outdoor tables and resetting them so they could serve more people!
Despite the incredibly ill-equipped staff and less than fine dining experience, the food was excellent. The seafood risotto was delicious and the shrimp pasta was also very tasty.
My advice is to check the weather before you go. For an expensive restaurant who offers outdoor seating and fine dining, they are very ill-equipped for typical beachfront weather conditions.
