Big Education in a Small School: The Good:
I transferred to Richard Stockton College after spending two years at the University of Pittsburgh. I went from classes with 200-300 kids - with 3 stories of theater seats - to smaller classes that required much more thought. (I graduated Stockton in 1996).
I was in the Psychology track with "minors" in Black Studies (unofficial) and Gerontology (official). You are forced to understand the course work beyond a series of 20-question multiple choice tests. Public speaking and writing are embedded in the curriculum, and remain skills that I am thankful to have.
As a non-traditional student, I enjoyed the versatility of day classes, night classes, and one telecourse requiring TV viewing of the Stockton Channel from home.
I love how Stockton maintains an active Performing Arts Center.
The Alumni program, for nominal dues, allows graduates to use the facilities, including the library, the gym, the pool, etc.
The Not-So-Good:
I found the campus fairly dark at night. But I'm also talking about 1994 - 1996. Based on visible changes driving by the campus, I only imagine the lighting situation is greatly improved.
If you're in a field that requires some big-name school on your resume, Stockton isn't there yet.
