August 2009- overpriced food with terrible service - we got better meals on the boardwalk.
Absolutely the worst service and worst meal I ever ate. Our server left empty glasses sitting on the table even after refills were bought out - which I shouldn't complain about because it took forever to get drinks or water when glasses were empty - ever heard of a restaurant that charges you for every drink - this is not an inexpensive menu it is high end. plus I'm not talking alcoholic beverage I'm talking iced tea. Coul have used a drink after almost choking to death on that spicy bread dip.
I had the shrimp and broccolli for $25 - I got what looked like 5 small shrimp with broccolli that looked like the meal had been sitting under a heat lamp - all in the most taseless watery sauce I have ever seen - it looked more like soup. It was discusting. I couldn't even finish it.
My family had a table of four - we got two meals served then waited nearly 15 minutes for the other two meals - all while we watched our waitress serve birthday cake and ice cream to another table of 10 - table of two right next to us came in 15 minutes after we did - they may still be there waiting for their check. They complained throughout the meal about their pasta - how does an italian restaurant that overcharges for food screw up pasta.
Worst of all I told the manager as I was leaving and she said - I'm sorry to hear that. Now I know why this restaurant sucks with that type of attitude. But I guess that why they have REVIEWS
La Piazza is one of the more popular Italian places at the shore. It has a sort of charm that most people will enjoy, as it is a solid Italian-American choice. The entries are solid and the appetizers are quality, especially the antipasta. Bartenders are attentive and quick. Now the bad. The owner is a little annoying and has quite possibly the worst singing voice I have ever heard. The waiter we had was overwhelmed with our large table. He took away entries before they were finished twice, and seemed to rush us through the meal like he had somewhere to go. Its a shame because he seemed to be very experienced, but he should know not to rush the diners. At the end of the meal we left 16% as we felt the dinner and service was solid but not extraordinary. This guy came to the bar and wanted to know why the tip was so "low". Ive never seen anything like it in my life. Inexcusable.
I would not go to La Piazza if you have a large group as they cannot handle it. I would go if your party is 6 or less.
I came to resturant last weekend and it was wonderful. The food was excellent the atmosphere nice. I would definately go back and the Young lady who was hostessing was very sweet and welcoming.
