I ate at Crabby's today with my wife...I ordered a plate of Seafood over pasta with a Scampi sauce, Broiled Scallops, and a Seafood Gumbo. The Bartender was very nice. The Scampi was like a Garlic Flavored Oil Slick with over cooked seafood. The Scallops were over cooked and the Gumbo was ok. We returned the Pasta dish, and ate the Scallops and soup because we were dying of hunger. We were afraid to re-order because "Brian" the cook (Who also doubled as the plummer as he unclogged the ladies room toilet in the middle of his cooking duties)came out to check out who was sending back his food, We didnt want to get "a Brian Oyster" (hock tooey)if you know what I mean. If its Just Crabs you want Go for the All you can eat thing. But any Culinary type food is best left to the real chefs. Also my soup and drink and scallop prices were inflated by and additional dollar on each item...rather than argue we payed and left. $56.00 plus tip for 2 drinks and 2 soups and an over cooked plate of small (quarter sized) scallops....not including our tip. Dont even ask for salad the dont have it....a good seafood lunch with my wife became a dissappointment. I wish I had a better experience to report.
Great Crabs!: We found Crabby's while in Atlantic City for a business meeting, after a day of Golf. It's not what you call a fancy restaurant, but it is a great "Joint!" Very Casual, cold beer, great Crabs! The Daily "all you can eat specials" ensure even the heartiest appetite goes home stuffed. I make the 30 minute drive out of Atlantic City every time I am down there. Go with the Blue Crab (Old Bay or Garlic), they are worth the extra work. Always get the Garlic butter to dip!
It's All About the Food: If you want to dine in an elegant restaurant don't go to Crabby's. If you want awesome seafood, friendly service and on occasion entertainment, Crabby's doesn't disappoint. I had the best crab cakes ever and plan on going back.
