Brothers Pizza

Have been going to Brothers for years. Absolutely great pizza. Everything is fresh because the place is always packed. Have had hundreds of pies here and never one that wasn't delicious. Their subs are also great. Right up there with the best pizza you can get in NYC.

Great Expectations - Average Reality: I had great expectations after reading all the rave reviews about Brothers. I was looking for that true NJ/NY pizza. I ordered a "regular" pizza as Brothers calls it, which is a traditional pizza you would expect from the typical suburban Pizzeria/Italian restaurant . They have "specialty" pizzas there which seem to be upscale California style and are more expensive. Unfortunately, my pizza from Brothers was just average. Why? The dough had a dry bread-like airy texture with little flavor. The sauce was OK being slightly sweet with tomato flavor, but it lacked traditional seasoning that makes a great sauce. And lastly the mushroom topping had an off taste, this may suggest they were canned rather than fresh. Seems like it is almost impossible to get a good pizza in this area any more.

Being Mahattan transplants we have eaten alot of pizza, but my best pie is Brother's garlic and tomato pie.Get it with extra cheese and garlic. Now all we need is a Papaya King and we can save on tolls.
