Are you people out of your minds?. I have eaten here on 3 seperate occations, and have yet to taste even good steamed rice. The food was oily, tasteless and can't even be considered chinese.Maybe the menu for asian customers will be better. But even after a friend from Hong Kong ordered "Off the menu"we still left with the feeling that this East Brunswick favorite was best suited to diners who still think that fried wonton wrappers and duck sauce is a chinese appitizer.
I used to work @ Borders back in 1999-2000.
Two stores down, & ordered from there constantly.
Excellent fresh food, & good prices.
Never any leftovers during mid-week, which is the case for many places.
I moved from the area but I recently went back after 5 years, & the owner remembered me & all my little food quirks lol.
She had my food out, & was just as tasty as i'd remembered.
While there I observed the sunday evening crowd.
They knew everyone by name.
That's impressive.
Especially in this waaaay over-crowded part of central NJ,
& in a primarily self-centered society.
This was a breath of fresh air.
There's a buffet next door, but with personalized service like this, along with good food, they have no worries.
Been going to Golden East since they first opened 17 years ago. The quality of their great food has never waivered. The service is always polite and friendly. The owners, Win and Anne, take personal interest in their customers' preferences. When I underwent my coronary bypass, Anne prepared low-fat low-sodium wonton soup exclusively for me - no charge. Golden East is a favorite stop of my children whenever they come home to East Brunswick to visit. Golden East is among the best things that ever happened to East Brunswick, New Jersey.

Well, I've been eating there for 10 years and my experience has always been that the food is a step above most Chinese places around and the service is excellent. I'm sorry your experience was different.
Do you even know what real chinese food taste like? Or like so many others in New Jersey consider a fine dinner ends with a greasy eggroll?
