| About: | The older of two remaining buildings from the once thriving Colonial river port, Raritan Landing, the Metlar-Bodine House is a State and National Historic Site which houses many historical artifacts, including the Ross Hall Wall, an architectural piece from a former township home once headquartered by George Washington. On July 4, 1778, the second anniversary of our nation, thousands of American Patriots lined the banks of the Raritan to celebrate their victory over the British at Monmouth. Washington hosted an elegant officers ball at the mansion. |
