User Rating: 3 out of 5 starsVery heavy food: I've heard so many good things about Origin, so my husband and I decided to check it out. We both love Thai food and eat it at least once a month. The ambiance is great - chic and relaxing, and the service is good. But the food, compared to other Thai restaurants, is heavy and overpowering. My husband had Pad Thai and was so sweet and gooey that he couldn't even think about dessert afterwards (?!). I had the Pad Kee Maow, and the sauce was so thick and overpowering that I couldn't eat more than a few bites.
I'm almost not surprised that lots of people like this restaurant - it's like junk food compared to the subtle, complex flavors of other Thai restaurants.
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsBest Thai Food Around!: Origin French Thai is one of my all time favorite Thai Resturants. Their original location is in Somerville, but have recently opened a Morristown Resturant that I have not had the opportunity to try yet. I have tried various Thai resturants in the area, and they have ALL failed to compete with Origins.... so that puts me willing to drive the distance whenever the Thai crave hits me. I would definetly recommend it, but beware! Once you've eaten here, any of Thai cuisine will taste like fast food to you!
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWonderful Experience: This was the second time my husband and I went to this restaurant. It was even better than last time. I had a jumbo shrimp dish with three dipping sauces that was absolutely delicious. My husband had a chicken and veggie dish that he enoyed a lot. We were there to celebrate my Birthday and the staff made it very special. Before they brought out our desserts the lights dimmed, then flashed, then they played Happy Birthday over the speakers. The whole restaurant joined in by clapping. We had a wonderful evening.
