Great food...but not always "family friendly". First I would like to say that my wife and I have been very satisfied patrons at that establishment in new Brunswick for several yearsâ¦that is until the evening of Saturday May 16th 2009. Our family had 5:00PM reservations at Deltaâs in celebration of my younger Brotherâs 40th Birthday and the 10th Wedding Anniversary for he and his wife. Accompanying us were my 9 year old Niece, my 2 year old Nephew and my 6 month old son. We arrived at Deltaâs at 5:00 PM sharp and few if any other patrons were there at that time. Our Hostess proceeded to seat us, just beyond the bar and the stage on the first level. My 6 month old was in good spirits until perhaps the middle of our meal when he began to cry. I picked him up and stood which always seems to calm him and it did. The establishment began to fill and any noise he was making was drowned out by all that was going on around him.
As we waited for our desserts I was approached by another hostess who statedâ¦âweâve been patient long enough and the owner would like you to take the child upstairs or up front at this timeâ. This was the first time there was any indication that we were causing a disturbance. I think that this individual (a Hostess that we saw for the first time)was rude, insulting and highly unprofessional. First of all when we arrived at the establishment, it was obvious that we had children that could potentially become an issue later in the eveningâ¦why then were we seated at that central location when we could have very well been placed anywhere else? I think the way I was approached was indicative of someone who was approached several times before during the evening. That was not the case. Again, I was highly insulted and I spoke to one of the Hostesses (perhaps she was a Maitre dâ) at the from entrance and expressed my issues with the incident and how unprofessionally it was handled.
As I stated, weâve visited Deltaâs many times over the years with friends and family. May 16th, 2009 was the last time I will ever set foot in this establishment. I cannot and will not frequent Deltaâs ever again, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone in the future.
Good food, nice decor and music. Love their carrot cake.
The dumplins were sad. The oxtail weren't great. The gumbo was the thickest and saltiest I ever had. It was slop. It was a substandard meal for a heafty price. The only reason I would return is for the atmosphere. It is very warm and romantic. The drinks were good, too.

I was looking for a ladies night out (50th celebrations)...but it appears it is not worth it. Especially if I am coming from Philadelphia...one person received a ticket while in valet, ridiculous...I think I will look for something in Philly
