Great place for watching low release films. I saw the Fall with Lee Pace and it was a great film. The theatre was ok, no complaints. Bathrooms are clean. Electronic ticket purchase is available in the lobby and snack area. Snacks are expensive -- bottled water $3.75, small soda $3.75. Girl cashier was nice. There is a small area with tables and chairs for eating near the restrooms outside auditorium 2 and 3.
Overall, I'm just happy they are showing The Fall because it isn't playing anywhere else in the US except Santa Monica, CA.
This might have the secret to a $10.00 ticket: Landmark Sunshine Cinema is a great art-house. It works because there are many details that make my watching 4 to 5 movies in a day a reality. The range of concessions is a plus and the flavored toppings is something I wish more theaters offered. The parent companies free newsletters are a great value for planning my screening season.
It ain't all that!: Sound system was just OK
The theater itself seemed crowded, but it wasn't.
The seats lean back, but you can't sit up straight.
It wasn't my worst movie theater experience in NYC, but it sure wasn't great.
The only thing that saves it from a "poor" two-star rating
is it's location:
two blocks from Katz Deli & the best Pastrami sandwich in NYC!
