This used to be my husband and my favorite place. However, we went there for our anniversary (about the 10th time we've been there) and we were totally rushed. Yes, it was Sunday night, but if you don't want to be serving food at 10, close the kitchen at 9 and don't take reservations any later than that. The food was still good, but we felt like we had to scarf it down - the waiter asked us 2 times if he could get us anything else, while we were still eating!
Best I've ever had: Went there with my wife on our anniversary on a recommendation from a friend who lives next to Gramercy Tavern. The waiter was great - just the right amount of attentiveness. The sommelier recommended a great wine that was deceptively low-priced. They even ran out of my favorite bourbon and gave me Booker's at the same price. The filet was incredible, with a baked garlic clove that was heavenly.
I am very picky when it comes to filets - If not perfect I'll send it back. We'd heard it was one of the best in NYC and we now believe it. Pricey? Duh! It's a top steak house in Manhattan! How could it not be? If you want the best, you pay for it, right?
YOu must have the creamed spinach: I absolutely love the steaks, but don't forget to order the creamed spinach...
