| About: | With a name like Old Homestead, you know that this restaurant has either been around awhile, or is just pretending to be. Happily, the former is the case-Old Homestead first opened in 1868, and it remains a straightforward, old-fashioned steakhouse. Therefore, it is perhaps surprising that the most coveted item on the menu is Kobe beef from Japan, which costs around $100 a portion. Thankfully, there are steaks galore at less breathtaking prices, and the portions are extremely generous. |

Tasty steak, poor service. Had the filet, it was cooked right, but the bar lacked basic brands and the service was awful. Had to flag down a waiter every time we needed something. Took over 45 minutes for the staff to take our order - some steaks were not cooked properly. Bill was incorrect. For dropping $800 on dinner, we deserved better.
I went to Old Homestead for a bachleor party with 8 guys on Aug 2 2008. The food was high quality, but the service was poor. My steak (which in some ways was excellent) was only seasoned on the "top" side, the bottom was gray with no crust. We waited for glasses to be filled, drink orders to be taken or arrive; we asked for liquor that they didn't have (Jack Daniels Red label or Gentleman Jack). The bar tender was not helpful in suggesting substitions. It was loud, and they only served bread when we asked).
The steak itself was good, too bad they didn't bother to cook both sides of it.
Iwent to the Old Homestead 01/12/2008 for a Birthday dinner with close friends & my in-laws. As soon as we got there we went to the bar to wait for a table, the bar is so narrow us girls were literally being pushed around by both the wait staff & the clientele. Once seated out "hostess" was very rude to my table, I was hit in the back of the head twice!!! by passing wait staff, my mother in-law sent her steak back four times because they could not get it right, she asked for medium & she received raw, well & very well, the last time they came out she didn't bother to look at it. we figured since we were there for an occasion we might as well order desert, well BIG mistake!! We were drinking coffee & trying to enjoy the desert when the wait staff began breaking down the tables & chairs & there were making such a racket that we were just too fed up & left!! I was so disappointed, I would never go there again nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone : (
