I went to the 4040 Club in NY this past weekend and was totally disappointed overall. I reserved seating online where it said nothing about any bottle requirements.... so when I arrived my name was not on the list and I was told there was a $150 bottle requirement for the seating area, but the group of ladies seated next to us were not required to buy anything to be seated in the same area (of course they were a different race). I asked the waitress why the other ladies didn't have a bottle requirement and she only gave lame excuses. They asked to hold our ID's and credit cards while we were in the reserved seating area as if we looked like we couldn't afford anything.

We played by the rules and ordered a bottle of Nuvo (yes, the pink little Wayne vodka is $150 at the 4040 Club) and ordered food as well. We we got our food it was all horrible.. hard calamari and bbq wings with no sauce and bland fish (tartar sauce wouldn't help). The manager would not refund us our money when we did not like our food instead he asked us to walk thru a door which led outside and told the bouncer to have us pay (outside) and not let us back in.... we felt totally disrespected and discriminated against. The manager's name was Tommy and one waitress commented that he acts tempermental often. In my opinion he should not be a manager if his only goal is to get your money and not please you as a customer. We spent well over $250 and received horrible treatment as paying customers.

I flew from NC to NJ to attend a birthday party at the Atlantic City club. I was very disappointed at the way the night began and ended. I thought that the 40/40 would be a place of prestige and luxury. Instead I was bombarded with rude, unprofessional staff who offered to take my picture with a 1988 Polaroid camera in the pitch dark blackness of the club. As a brown skin sister I was insulted when a fair skin employee tried to convince me that other people like pictures dark because "it hides flab." First of all I am not fat; secondly, it is my picture, if I don't like it take another one. It’s called customer service. I would never go party with the kids again nor would I recommend others subject themselves to the ghetto mentality of the staff and its patrons. Jay-Z, Atlantic City needs a check up and a colonoscopy.

I read your review and was saddened to hear this was your experience. Had I been there with you I would have made it perfectly clear to the staff that they need to rethink how they treat people and demand free drinks due to their rudeness and lack of hospitality. If they did not accept my offer I would wait outside and tell each new customer that there was a stabbing earlier and that it is unsafe to enter. Then they can see what it is like to have rude customers *smirk* If you are ever interested in having a nice time out with a good clean, drug free group of people message me sometime!

I don't know if Jay-z knows who is working for him at his club or if he is indeed sanctioning what goes on there but I just recently had a birthday party in a private room where I pre-ordered food and beverages that I paid for well in advance for my invited guests to enjoy. Upon arriving at my party I witnessed the wait staff that I did not request harrassing and soliciting food and drink orders from my guests. When I summoned a manager and told her not only did I not want them there that I wanted to file a formal complaint which I was never allowed to do so nor was the wait staff ever asked to leave. I then demanded that my food and drink be brought immediately and made an announcement to my guests that they did'nt have to purchase anything from the wait staff since I already paid for everything and that management was purposely delaying my accomodations so they could make more money off my party. After my announcement things only got worse as management now used more than three burly security goons to enter the room and intimidate me and my guests all the while my food was delayed up to an hour or more. When the bottle service finally came I was even called out of the room on four occassions to face acusations about wrongdoings in my party such as resale of alcohol that when asked for proof none was given and I was let back into the room Only on the last occassion as I re-entered the room I now found the manager actually pouring my private bottles of liquor without my permission to random guests and when I confronted her she even had the audacity to mumble something about her staff not receiving enough tips. I then told her that she and her staff security included had been violating me all night and would she please leave the room to which she tried to coerce me into an argument which I knew not to play into but she soon just left only to send someone from security to talk to me outside which I did and was thus told I was not to re-enter the club and then I later found out that security then stormed the room that I rented and forced everyone to leave abruptly with no explanation and barely a chance to gather their belongings all the while shining flashlights in their faces and treating them like criminals. I did'nt receive most of the food and liqour I purchased and I never got to see my cake if they even baked it at all and It was a night that was supposed to be a celebration but it turned into a night of sheer humiliation due to the clubs bottomline or just sheer greed milking good people of every dime they can get. American Gangsters aint got nothing on the 40/40 club
