About:Chef Vincent Scotto opened Gonzo in Greenwich Village to raves of "must eat" thin crust grilled pizzas, classic dishes such as a 36 oz. grilled Tuscan steak, grilled onion salad, pastas & cicchetti (Italian Style "Tapas"). The dishes are served in Gonzo's red bar and spacious dining room with its soaring artfully decorated ceiling. Gonzo offers a very broad Italian wine list, with most selections offered by the glass or quartino. Chef Scotto changes his menu frequently to fit the season. Gonzo also has outdoor seating on one of Greenwich Village's most lovely tree-lined streets. Outside seating is on a first come first served basis. * High-chairs or booster seats are not available.

Great casual dining.: My boyfriend took me here for my birthday this year, and I loved it. They are famous for their grilled pizzas - and while neither of us got one, we saw them being served and they looked delicious! I ordered the spaghettini with the manilla clams, and was extremely pleased with both the sauce and the pasta. My boyfriend raved over the grilled quail. Their wine list is amazing - and the waitstaff is really helpful in selecting a wine to fit your meal.
If you go to Gonzo for any reason, go for the pecan praline ice cream sandwich. It was a perfect finish to our delicious meal!
The restaurant itself was gorgeous, with a very nice dinner crowd. The waitstaff was helpful and always on hand.

You can't go wrong...: Gonzo is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The atomosphere of the restaurant, the friendly staff, and the great food makes this establishment stand above the others in authentic Italian cuisine. Great meat and cheese platters, veal, and pastas. Try the pizzas too. Hot for people watching too.
