Neat Place in NYC: This is a historic little pub in Greenwich Villiage. I was visiting and found a nice place to stop, rest, and have a beer before exploring New York more.
Can't Wait To Go Back: My best friend and I went to NY for five days and this was one of our favorite things we did. I loved the fact that the owner's dogs hangout. They had a booth all to themselves while we were there. I can not say enough great things about this place. It is a must see and do while in NY!
Speakeasy Hangout: A date suggested we check the place out. The entrance is REALLY easy to find if you can read roman numerals, but I can see how the coppers overlooked this speakeasy back in the day. The "Escape" exit out into the courtyard should be used just so you get a sense of what it was like clearing out of the place during a raid in prohibition.
The people were all casual, the waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. The menu is standard pub fare, and I saw everyone getting the Shepard's Pie, so I tired it. It was surprisingly good, if a little spicy. The beers are all good, and I highly recommend an evening with friends here.
This isn't a "first date" place unless you are old friends. Not much romantic unless you can call cramped seating that. Overall, however, this place gets two thumbs up, and I definitely willbe going back, most likely without the girl.
