| About: | You would almost expect famed lesbians and lovers Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas to waltz into this popular lesbian restaurant. In the downstairs dining room, couples make eyes at each other over candlelight. The basic American fare includes Grilled Shrimp, burgers and salads. Upstairs is a smoky and sensual piano bar, where an older set of ladies listens to velvety jazz standards. |

KILLER GIRL BAR! AWESOME BARTENDERS AND ROMANTIC: being a translady and yes, lesbian, from southbury , connecticut; I don't manage to get into the city every week. but when I go down to my clinic , callen lorde on west 18th st to see my endocrinologist about once a month; this is MY FAVORITE [ mostly] LESBIAN BAR OF ALL IN NYC ! the bartenders all are great , especially katie ,a very warm and caring lady who is usually there on either tuesday or thursday nights when they've got karaoke with lisa love! ruby fruit has, like this small town friendliness and very ROMANTIC atmosphere ; right in the heart of busy manhattan's west greenwich village[ 5-10 min walk from christopher st/7th ave #1 subway , even in your hottest heels.:) ] been to monster, duplex , and a few others ; BUT RUBY FRUIT I FEEL, IS THE BEST PLACE I KNOW IN THE CITY ! beers are about $5 for domestic, $6 for my favorite coronas, average price for manhattan ; maybe even cheaper than say duplex and bigger, less intimate clubs . the two unisex " ladies rooms" are, like CLEAN AS A WHISTLE and like, really nice inside with the wood shelves and pretty floral wallpaper . and yes, I met quite a few really awesome women here so far . I LOVE THIS PLACE !

Ruby Fruit: This place has class and style. It's not your average lesbian hang out. Here, you have a cool place to meet new people upstairs at the bar. If that's not for you, go downstairs and order a meal in it's nice little eating nook.
Great Food and Drink: My girlfriend and I went to Ruby's the day after our anniversary to celabrate one more night. The prices of the food are not cheap but I would say worth it if you want great tasting food and enough to fill you up. The staff are friendly and the bartender make drinks with a kick. Upstairs maybe a little small (to me) but with good food and drinks its worth stopping by.I say it is worth go to.
