About:While the Meatpacking District is not normally associated with either French cuisine or a family atmosphere, Restaurant Florent offers both. For breakfast, lunch or dinner, the setting is relaxed, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. French American bistro food is available 24 hours a day, and a full bar is open at night. There is a large regular menu, and a three-course prix-fixe dinner at reasonable rates. Delivery and catering are available. No credit cards are accepted.
Hours:Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner daily, Brunch Sat.-Sun.

Best French diner: This restaurant, designed by Tibor Kalman and opened in 1985 is an interesting statement in design and oh, it also serves food. The walls and menus are adorned with maps from various places around the world (real and possibly imagined), and represents the archetypal diner in France that never existed (i.e. a simulacrum).

I go here almost exclusively for the Boudin Noir (blood sausage) and fries, a dish which is hard and absolutely delectable here. The mussels are also spectacular, as well as just about everything on their brunch menu. The special salad is usually worth a trip down healthy lane.

This is a good alternative to Pastis when the wait is 45 minutes or more, and I would choose to go here over Pastis anyway. We eat brunch here almost every week.

Great staff: A great staff and decent food makes for an enjoyable dinner any time of the day or night. Very gay friendly in the increasingly straight meatpacking district is a definite plus.
