Dr. Spindel has been my dentist for 8 years and over 30 visits. I am a physician whose Roman ruin of a mouth was rescued and restored by Dr. S. I wouldn't care if he were arrogant and mean to his staff (he is neither) so long as he took great care of my teeth, which he has. Apart from being a very very good dentist, there are two things that separate him from the other elite members of his profession. First, he really teaches you prevention. Know what a Proxabrush is? Know what root planning is? Know what Stimudents do? Know why a water pic helps protect your teeth? Know why expensive toothpaste is a waste on money?? Ha !!! I DIDN'T THINK SO. That is because you haven't sat in Dr. Spindel's dentist chair. He doesn't give lip service to dental prevention, he explains how it all works and, once you understand, you start practicing it because you know WHY it's good for you. As a result you need less dental care over the years and have better teeth. Even the cleanest mouth is full of bacteria. Good dental hygiene is an important part of good health. The other thing that separates him from other elite dentists took me longer to understand, and that is because I didn't realize, from an economic point of view, how much like medicine, dentistry is. BS (Before Spindel) I had always admired the high tech aspects of my various dentists' practices, They would take these 3 D pictures, fabricate fancy dental hardware (I really am an experienced consumer) right in their offices and then attach them to my teeth and bond them with UV light, etc. A very impressive show, but the basic economics of that kind of activity is this: high tech equals hi investment costs equals high fees equals high return on investment. Dr. Spindel can do anything any other highly skilled dentist can do, but he doesn't do everything he can do. He performs only those procedures that he can do as well as they can be done. If another dentist who has specialized in something can perform some procedure better than Dr. S, he will refer you to that other dentist. So he routinely forgoes income by referring patients to dental specialists so that his patients may get optimal care, instead of the merely excellent care he himself could provide. Instead of high tech dentistry, Dr. S practices high integrity dentistry, and that is not so easy to find. Five stars aren't enough. The aquarium in his office could use some work though.

I have been a patient of Dr. Spindel since 2000. In Dr. Spindel I found a top professional who takes tremendous pride in all he does. As one that had not previously been fond of dentists I am now thrilled to be in the hands of such a competent and compassionate perfectionist. He and his staff are absolutely wonderful.
