You've gotta read this letter I just wrote to THE PALM. They sent me a promotional mailing for their 'highly anticipated summer lobster' ....forewarned is forearmed...read on
I am having difficulty digesting your promotion "Summer Lobster" 4 lb. lobster, 2 salads and 1 side for $90.00.
Correct me if I am wrong....A 4 lb. lobster is always $74.00.
I can get 2 salads for $10 each = $20
and a side for $8.00
That comes to $102.00 all the time. Now you are promoting "a most anticipated
premiere of summer lobster for $90.00"
Wow! That's a huge savings. $12. on a $102.00 check.
That a savings of 11%. WOW.
Why bother???????? Aren't you embarrassed?
Please tell me when 11% off a dinner check is 'most anticipated"
I'm surprised at the Palm. It's not like you to fool us. But by not fooling me,
hopefully you won't fool anyone thanx to the www.
Some people simply deserve other steak houses as their ability to differentiate good from great is clouded with other nonsensical stuff. This is the best steak house in the city period. You'll pay for it so. The wait staff is top notch - not kissing your butt enough? Get used to it - the place is busy. Eat there ten times, order the same meal, and it will be identical each time - thats a good steak house.
All alone was I.......: I was looking forward to a wonderful meal, in a fabulous place, that I kept getting recommendations from New Yorkers to eat at...Palm. I went, I waited, and waited, and waited. You see, I was alone and the host did not mind putting EVERYONE else ahead of me. I even heard remarks about the single lady, and where to "put her". Well, they "put me" right beside the door going into the kitchen. The food service traffic kept rushing by my table, and my waiter was not happy with my "oneness". I figured he thought I would not have sense enough to leave a tip, or even more accurate, no date to pay the bill and leave him a FAT tip. The food was great. The service to me was not. I was basically ignored. I DID leave a fat tip, to which after thinking about it later, I wish I had not. I do recommend this place for at least two people, or more. If you are single, save the embarrassment and go to a deli. Or better yet, Smith & Wolensky. They treat you right!
