Busy little secret!: For those in the garment and theatre districts this is an insider fave choice for tasty, pleasant, but not overly showy dining. The food is an eclectic mix of thoughtful, contemporary cuisine, and all a pretty good value. Especially for the pre-theatre menu, even though it's just a tiny bit off the beaten path of Times Square (which is not a bad thing!). You can leave Jack's at 7:45 and still easily make your 8:00 curtain at, say, the Marquis Theatre.
Sleek, yet warm modern decor includes tables and comfortable booths. Service generally friendly and efficient, with an Irish accent. Busy, bustling, and only a wee bit noisy at lunch time, things slow down after around 1:30. So lunch reservations ARE recommended. Not quite as busy pre-theatre/evenings. Comfortable, friendly bar with a good selection of spirits.
Crowd is generally midtown professionals. Not really a "family" scene, but families might be able to make this one work, though not quite at "family" prices like nearby Carmine's, Ollie's, etc.
