About:	Taprobane has opened at 234 West 56th Street. It's natural to assume that Sri Lanka, with it's proximity to India, would have similar food. But there are other influences,including Portuguese and Dutch, that give Sri Lankan food its own character. Some dishers are delicious and hard to find anywhere eles. Hopper (4.95) is an incredibly light, delicately savory concoction of rice flour shaped into a bowl, baked and served with a poached egg in the middle. Devilled Shrimp (16.95) combines Jumbo Shrimp with sautee'd Onions & Hot Red Pepper flake mix. It goes well with the accompanying dish of Chutney.
