I consider myself very reasonable and not fussy at all. But I was at Jekyll and Hydes today and it was just terrible. I love the theme and it was lots of fun. The food was over priced and terrible. My burger was dry and the bacon tasted like it was preped early this morning. My Brother ordered pasta and paid $20 for it. When it came we were wondering where the other half went. It wasn't even entree size. We ordered nachos and dip. There were five or six chips on top and under that they were all broken; not even large enough to dip. The server came over to our table and commented, "Did you break all your chips?" My Brother replyed by saying, "no, that's how it came out." The server had nothing else to say. I realize this place is all about the show, but come on it doesn't take much to make decent food. It was just horrible. I don't think we'll be going back again.
I'm a native New yorker who thought taking the wife and kids to this place would be fun on our day off from school and work. We went on a Thursday afternoon, the place was mostly empty, which was fine, and I expected bad food, like all theme restaurants, along with high prices. for the four of us, two kids, two adults, I was prepared for a 60 to 70 dollar lunch at most. I was way off. The bill was $91 bucks, and all we had were burgers, chicken strips, fries, and kids spaghetti, and 3 lemonades. They threw in an $11 dollar ENTERTAINMENT fee, which they posted on a sign on the door outside, which I neglected to read. To call it ENTERTAINMENT is an overstatement. A friendly guy coming to our table cracking jokes with our kid, is not what I would call entertainment. Overall, the burger was average, no complaints, but a burger and fries shouldn't cost 16.95. And for a kids chicken strips, I would think $15 is a bit steep. Some cute gags, cute animatronics, whichmy 6 year old kid liked, but overall, the place was underwhelming, and WAY overpriced. I feel like a chump, but I should have known better. Stick to a more reasonable place, and skip the theatrics. New York has much better to offer, but I thought the novelty of the atmosphere would be fun for a change.
I have given this restaurant 1 star and I don;t think it even deserves this. The place looks dirty and shabby. I know this is supposed to be like a haunted house or something but the seats were all torn and the carpet looked like it should have been ripped up years ago. The food was very poor and even though they had an extensive beer menu it took 4 different orders before they could give me a beer that they had in stock. When it came to dessert the 1 thing my daughter asked for they did'nt have either. I can honestly say this place is the biggest let down ever and if there was not another restaurant in N.Y I would do without before I would go back to this place.
