Fabulous food, soulful and Caribbean flavor, live music, all in the romantic atmosphere of MoBay Uptown, a Manhattan extension of MoBay's on 112 DeKalb in Brooklyn which has been favorably reviewed by Zagat's and Timeout and received a Best of New York Award by the Village Voice, and has been featured on Taste of New York and the NBC Morning Show. The Curried Coconut Salmon is divine, as is the Escovitched Red Snapper. The appetizer platter for two containing Jerked Chicken Wings, Barbecued Chicken, Codfish Cakes, Catfish Strips, and Sweet Plantains is an adventure in tropical delights. Leave room for the standout Rummy Rum Cake that's freshly baked daily at the restaurant. The music is always good with live music every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Went to this restaurant on a friday nite. The staff was nice, but it was so crowded that I think that was affecting the service. It took at least 20 min to get a drink. The music was also nice, but really loud which made it hard for a nice conversation. The food was good (Out of 6 plates that we ordered the ribs looked the best). Definitely not the best carribean food, but good. Overall, if your in the city late at night and nothing else to do this place will kill time.
They list under catering, yet they did not want to deliver 12 meals to my customer that is located on the same block. I would rethink this listing. I don't think they cater at all.
Good food and service: Came in with a large party without reservations and they took care of us right away. Staff is friendly and food was excellent. We need more places like this in Harlem.
