I've only had a few drinks in the bar, but wow! The bartender knows how to make a drink the same way they did in the 1930s and 40s. Nothing but quality ingredients and liquor here, no cost cutting mixes, everything made from scratch.
Great location -- great history and accomodation: Location, location, location. Close to Times Square and Fifth Avenue shopping. Rooms are always clean, if a bit small. The suites are generous but more expensive, obviously. If you have any appreciation for New York and American literary and theatrical tradition, just sitting in the Round Table Room and ordering a Manhattan is worth the effort. I always try to stay here when on business as the rate in terms of location is reasonable -- and if you stay often enough you can get occasionally comped to a suite...
Staff are top notch and remember you. A gem.
Great Location!: My family and I found this hotel to be centrally located in NYC with clean rooms, and very comfortable beds. The front desk women were a bit snobby and even rude at times. We requested a cot and simply got the runaround and no cot. We also requested a blanket and instead were told rudely by the woman at the front that they were short-staffed and that we just weren't going to get it that night. I had to get it from the service people in the morning. Otherwise, we loved the dim lighting throughout and its upscale feel. I would definitely stay there again.
