For the price they charge in Midtown, NY you can't expect everything. Go pay $300- 500 dollars a nite then complain about all the services you expect. Breakfast at $8.00 is very cheap for Midtown. The hotels that charge $300-500 a nite, still charge $15-20 plus tips per person for breakfast, so dont complain about that. The rooms were small, but clean, and thats more important. Great location for the price.
Small and under featured: Pricing relative effective for New York. Location good for a mid-town hotel, short walk to everything mid-town. Close to all three major subway lines and Grand Central. Good cafe and 2 delis on the block for inexpensive early/late meals.
That said, Small rooms, without a closet. Even smaller bathrooms. Stall showers, no tubs. Carpeting, and decorating tired. Air conditioning struggled on relatively cool summer days, leaving room humid. Turning the Thermostat up or down obviously does not affect the operation of the A/C. Despite charging extra for a second person in the room, the maid staff still only leaves sufficient towels for 1 person. Even if you regularly ask for more. Even if you leave a note for the maid. Maids only change sheets every other day.
Room has digital TV, but only a small screen positioned far from the bed. They had all the room lighting on one wall, leaving the other side of the room in murkyness. Desk very workable. No charge wireless internet access a plus, but no provision for RJ45 connection, so come prepared to rent a wireless card if your computer doesn't have that capability built in, and know how to set an SSID in your software.
This hotel really aims at the business traveler who needs few amenities and spends little time in the room.
Comfortable queen bed positioned very close to protruding mantle. An interesting and real hazzard when getting up at night.
Setting aside the club room, and the in-hotel restaurant, think vintage Holiday Inn room features (in miniature) at New York city prices.
A very nice place: The location was very good, not far from Times Square, close to Grand Central Station and to theaters.
The staff was friendly and the room small, but comfortable.
I think it's a nice place to stay to visit New York. We are French and this hotel looks very friendly to us, not too big.
I just regret the meals were expensive, though very good.If we visit New York again, we'll certainly stay in this hotel again.
