Mexican Shack, a jewelry and accents store, is located on State Rte. 100 in Somers and it is easy to miss it while driving so watch east side of the road for signs for this place and a hair salon and Firehouse Deli that share the parking lot. Entry is at parking lot level.
Mexican Shack sells pottery and many accent decorating items that have a distinctive Southwestern motif. Indeed, most of the stock is from that area of the country and Native artists are featured. Wall hangings, pottery and tschakes (nicknacks) are displayed in one part of the store while the jewelry is shown in an adjacent part. Silver, gold and even platinum items and settings with semiprecious as well as precious stones are available. The expected turquoise, garnet, and amber stones make up the less expensive lines of jewelry and diamonds and such are also there for purchase. A jeweler is on site some days and repairs of jewelry are available.
The sales ladies know their business very well, so customers are provided with accurate information about the products that are on display. Service is friendly and purchases are nicely presented, especially if they are to be given as gifts.
Mexican Shack is a good place to visit for gift ideas as well as for just getting something different or even traditional. This five-star rating is given for the quality of merchandise and sales help. As an infrequent visitor of jewerly establishments, I cannot comment on relative prices, but the ladies who I have visited the store with assure me that Mexican Shack is not bargain-basement priced, but they feel good about their purchases, as they know that the prices are fair and that there will be no discovery of a substandard item after purchase. It's the old story: you get what you pay for if you know what you're doing.

Great place for gifts or jewlwery.: Excellent service coupled with a wide variety of gift ideas makes "The Shack" a great place to shop for all of those holidays. Guys.. they will take care of your last minute, "forgot the anniversary", problems in a jiffy!

They don't serve tacos , but they do have everything a girl would want. The name is derived from their love of Southwestern and South American art, of which they have a wide selection. The Shack also features fine jewlery and a sales team with more years of experience than they want to admit.

Gorgeous Jewelry and Decorations!: Top notch jewelry is found here, among which some are hand made and estate finds. Add a beautiful chain to a pendant you already own, and you can even have a ring sized! The quality is excellent as well as the service. In addition, some of the most unique accessories for your home can be found - mirrors, statues and even small items such as ceramic lizards or a parrot! This is no "shack!"
