Reviewed from Yahoo! Movies: I give it 4 stars simply for showing good movies. I ditto the above but would tone down it's hyperbole by half. Hey, it's an old movie theatre that's been chopped up into 3 for god's sake lets not wax eloquent on ten dollar popcorn and a soda. Anyway I must say the the large Indian restaurant next door is the best in Westchester (and I've been to all of them except maybe northern westchester) as well as a good number on E. 6th St. Prices are good too.

Great Arthouse Theatre: I don't think the editorial has the right place mentioned. There is an open parking lot attached to a shopping centre, no meters to be found at all.

Anyway, this is a fabulous arthouse theatre on the Hartsdale/White Plains border. The location is easily accessible from the Sprain and Route 9A. Independant and foreign features reign supreme here, a welcoming escape from the garbage passed off as mainstream cinema these days. The usual consumers are 60-something seniors, who are perhaps trying to avoid the rowdy crowds of the cineplexes. Note that the times listed in the papers are usually always off, so either call the theatre or just check the website.

Ticket and concession prices are continually on the rise, but this is commonplace everywhere. Matinee shows are frequent and the pricing is fair, so just go early if you'd like to save a few bucks. Also, CVS (and Dunkin' Donuts) is right next door if you'd like to bring some goodies in, no one will chastise you.

The staff is very friendly and are in constant motion to help you get into the theatre as quickly and efficiently as possible. Treat them with dignity and respect as you should with any other human being and they will return the favor with a smile. They are a bit understaffed though, so don't be too surprised to find a long line for the box office sometimes, especially on a Saturday evening. Either get there early (about a half-hour before showtime), pay inside at the electronic kiosk with a credit card, or pre-order your tickets if you are unwilling to wait a few minutes, but honestly its not going to kill you. The concession stand is wonderful, you can get a good deal with a combo for about $10, and I think their popcorn is the best in town. Be courteous and pick up after yourself, these guys deserve it for their hard work.

The seats are comfy, and the patrons are generally very well behaved as this is a mature crowd. The projection equipment can be a little off sometimes, though its to be expected as this theatre has been around since at least the '60s. The Dolby audio is modern though, and sounds great. They offer listening devices for the hearing impaired as well.

With the Fine Arts theatre of Scarsdale having closed down in the fall of last year, this place is sure to see a surge of more business. Its one of the few arthouses remaining in the southern Westchester area, but its certainly a gem. My favorite place to go to the movies. Enjoy the show!
