I live minutes away from the area, and I refuse to go back there. They are not helpful what so ever. Me and my boyfriend found a friendly lost dog one night. We called the local police and they connected us to the animal shelter who told us to just leave the dog in a cage outside overnight till someone can take care of it in the morning.
they mentioned a lock on the gate, that we couldn't find. No one was in the shelter at the time for assistance.
I think if they recive a call its there responsibility as a shelter to make sure the animal is in safe. We unfortunately couldn't keep the dog ourselves over night because i already have a dog who isn't too keen on other dogs. so we brought the dog over to the shelter as the police suggested. and kept it closed as best as we could.
I showed up a few days later, asking about the dog and the snooty girls at the counter couldn't even tell me about the dog, they had no idea about the dog or the late call that was made only a few nights before.
ON ANOTHER OCCASION my boyfriend had found a nest of raccoons on his job site in jersey
the mother sadly didnt make it, she had gotten scared on the work site and fell out of one of the windows. so he did what he could and brought them over to me that night.
knowing the lack care the shelter takes at night i decided to wait it out and keep them alive for the night until morning when i knew people would be at the shelter.
3 tiny loud sausage sized raccoons made it the night. when i got there in the morning i gave them the tank i had kept them in along with the blankets and old T-shirts, they told me they had to call a specialist to come in and care for them i asked them if i could get a follow up on the raccoons to keep more of a track on them learning my lesson from the dog I tried to keep with them. the girl said " of course, you can come back in an hour to pick up your tank"
so an hour later i did, i asked how they were doing and she told me they were fine and kept warm, i asked if i could see them only because i had spent the whole night with them making sure they were fed and such. kinda grew slightly attached. and the girl got VERY rude with me, and refused to let me see them as i was getting my tank back. TO be honest i do NOT trust that animal shelter what so ever. For all i know the girl could of said they were fine, and they could of died within that hour of me giving them to her..
I should of learned with the dog now i have this on my mind. The people there are ALWAYS very rude and not helpful what so ever. these are my personal experiences with them and i know many people who have had similar situations with this place.. I would never recommended this shelter to anyone. for any shelter needs, i make my way to jersey. Thanks warwick human society- FOR NOTHING
